The moment Jim and Sasha Allen made it onto The Voice Live Shows, they created history as Sasha is the first openly transgender contestant in the NBC competition series to advance past to the Battle Rounds in the entire 21 seasons of the show. They are now the two from Newtown, Conn., has gone one step closer to making it to the top 8! Sasha announced that he is transgender and was featured in the Blind Auditions package. He said to Parade.com that it took some time to make that decision. "That was a difficult decision because you're showing a vulnerable part of yourself to a lot of millions of individuals," said Sasha, whom he transitioned to while in high school. In the last week of fans week, witnessing the love and support of fans, their reactions as well as the ways that affected people showed it that it was well-worth the risk. "We did it prior to when The Voice was even a event for us. When we received it, we were over the moon. We knew the song. already knew; it was a track we were already thinking of arrangements for. I was really surprised that the crowd hit the nail on the head."
