Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she received the Emmy Award. Her appearances include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Born as the only daughter to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a housewife, Delaney was raised with four brothers. When she was a kid, Delaney dreamed of becoming an official reporter for the court. The first time she began modeling was at the age of 14 and later landed commercials when she moved to New York. Her first film role was as a teenager in All My Children, a soap-opera from 1981. Delaney has appeared in a variety of TV movies, film and dramas after that. Her career as a professional has been better than her personal life. She has also experienced two failed marriages, and has struggled with alcoholism. In 2005, her custody was taken away from her.
